20th Century Chippendale Carved Mahogany Pie crust Tea Side Table Ball Claw Foot

Description

A large Chippendale style scalloped Pie Crust table, circa last quarter 20th century. Made from solid mahogany in the Jefferson Finish. Originally Purchased from William W. Sauer Associates Ltd. Bethesda, MD in 1982. the scalloped top is supported by a conical shaft reminiscent of Newport, Rhode Island design with carved acanthus accents over a tripod base with downswept legs leading to ball and claw feet.

The conical shaft relates to the nautical aspect of the Rhode Island area and is very popular amongst 18th century period pieces.
