Description

An Impressive William & Mary mahogany Settle or sofa, circa 18th Century. Featuring heavy scrolled frame with downswept open arms, six legs and Neoclassical floral upholstery. The beautifully "S" scrolled feet are footed with recessed casters allowing for ease of movement. The fabric showcases stunning Grecian urns with elaborate acanthus leaves and bouquets of roses flanked by feathery wings and other lively greenery

One of the original lobby furnishing of the Empress Hotel in British Columbia. Canada's Castle on the Coast, a centre of culture and National Historic Site since 1908. The Empress was named after Queen Victoria, who during the last decade of her reign, was also the Empress of India.

Procured from a historic 1922 waterfront estate in Orcas Islands, Washington. Known for a Hollywood history, once home to Theda Bara and Silent Film producers with John Wayne and others regularly frequenting.

William and Mary style of furniture was popular from 1700 to 1725. It was a transitional style between Queen Anne and Mannerist furniture. The style is named after the Dutch William of Orange and the English Mary Stuart, who ruled England, Scotland, and Ireland together from 1689 to 1694.
