Description

Antique French Renaissance / Gothic Revival walnut buffet a deux corps / vaisselier / cupboard / cabinet / hutch featuring Henry II styling with carved figural Phoenix / Griffon / Dragon / Northwind and floral theme. The top of the cabinet features a horned therianthropic / mythological beast flanked by reticulated gallery over domed / arched fretwork top fronted by a arcade with drop finials. At the center of the cabinet, we have carved doors flanking a cubbie watched over by figural spandrels and four barley twist turned supports in front of a long spice rail / rack / shelf. The lower cabinet has three drawers situated along carved faces, over lower cabinets featuring carved animal / floral / acanthus themes, supported by columns and bun feet.

A buffet � deux corps, which literally translates to "buffet with two bodies", is a type of French furniture that has two tiers, with the upper section sitting on top of a wider lower section. This style of furniture was popular in French homes and was designed to store kitchen goods and heirlooms.
