Description
An original oil painting replicating the "Flood at Port-Marly" after Alfred Sisley. The painting is on canvas and signed lower right by an artist with the first name Sally. Framed in a neoclassical style wood frame with gold finish and ribboned gesso.
In December 1872, Alfred Sisley traveled to Port-Marly, a village in the western suburbs of Paris. There he produced four paintings showing the flooding of the Seine River. At first glance, this scene looks peaceful. The waters are calm, reflecting the overcast sky. At the forefront is a wine merchant’s shop. Scattered small boats are crossing flooded streets and trees emerging directly from the water.
