A very impressive antique 19th century Scottish long case 8 day Grandfather clock by George Lumsden of Pittenweem. Tall Georgian style case featuring barley twisted accents and S scrolled top with open pediment and brass finial. The face is hand painted with roman numerals and a nautical maritime seascape scene of sailboats / Clipper Ships, Seagulls, and a Lighthouse against in choppy waters. Brass weight driven movement with recoil escapement, iron bell at the top of the movement with hammer strike, iron weights and steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob.
George Lumsden 1815-1904 was born in Scotland and learned the trade of watchmaker from his uncle in Pittenweem where he resided for the majority of his life.
