Description

Antique 19th century J Clementson blue iron ware / transferware in the Siam pattern. Features a cityscape scene with castle ruins and figures. Stamped with the Phoenix / Eagle bird mark. Registry mark dates to January 7, 1846.

Joseph Clementson was born in 1794 and started working at potteries at the age of seventeen. He established the Phoenix Works in 1832, expanded in 1845 and purchased the Bell Works in 1856 before retiring from business in 1867.

Condition

Good antique condition, wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, crazing.
