Brief History on Cochran Furniture Company
The company was formed through a partnership of three men in 1878 in Cochran, Indiana (Dearborn County). In 1879, one partner was bought out and the company’s name was changed to Cochran Chair Company. The city of Cochran at some point merged with the city of Aurora, which lies about a mile and half away. The merger took place, quite possibly by 1900 to 1901. Furniture made before 1900 will say “Made in Cochran” and furniture made after 1900 will say “Made in Aurora”.
