Antique circa 1870s drafting table or lecturn manufactured by Emile Chouanard, the director of the Aux Forges de Vul-cain in Paris at 3 rue Saint-Denis. This late 19th century drawing board / architect stand features a top that is completely tiltable and sliding thanks to two unique systems adjustable by butterflies.
Emile Chouanard (1861-1930) graduate engineer Arts et Métiers and Ecole Centrale Paris joined the family business of general supplies for companies "Aux Forges de Vulcain" located rue Saint Denis in Paris, first associated with his father and whose he will become the sole owner in 1895. The "Table Soleil" will appear in the company's catalog for several years under the heading "Mechanical furnishings".
