Description

Exceptional Antique 19th Century French Henry II / Renaissance Revival Hunt Cabinet. Hand carved from oak with a large upper display portion flanked by barley twisted columns. Opens to two shelves. The lower storage area of the cabinet features traditional low relief carved pheasant scenes beneath neoclassical ribboned motifs. Includes two hand dovetailed lockable drawers with hand carved wooden drawer pulls between a foliate motif. The upper section of the base features a slide out work surface which would have been perfect for use when toasting port before an old fashioned fox hunt. Other unique attributes of the cabinet are French floral medallions, thick carved molding, paneled sides and robust bun feet. This beautiful cabinet will draw attention in any space. Great for use as a bookcase, buffet, sideboard, china cabinet or cupboard.
