Hale Manufacturing Company Barrister Style Bookcase / Display Cabinet, circa 1970s. Made from gunstock walnut with brass tapered legs. The top two shelves have sliding glass with brass handles. The bottom section is missing glass. an intriguing cabinet with a mid century modern vibe to it.
Hale Manufacturing Company, based in upstate New York, has been in the wood furniture business for over 100 years. In 1879, Henry Hale purchased a small washboard factory in Arlington, Vermont, and converted it to furniture production. In 1952, John Benson, Hale's grandson, bought the company. During World War II, Hale Manufacturing built tool chests, then piano parts, and finally library furniture. Today, the company builds storage products, including barrister bookcases, from sustainably-sourced wood
