Abel Buel Moore born 1806 Vermont - died 1879 in New York
A native of Rupert, Vermont, Abel Moore was active in Troy, New York from 1823 to 1875 and also worked in New York City and Albany. He was a student of John Quidor and for many years was the leading portraitist in Troy. In 1831, he made a portrait-painting trip to Ohio. He was also active in New York City from 1857 to 1860 and Albany from 1858 to 1860. In New York, he exhibited at the National Academy of Design.
