"MAUDE"
Maude is a S&H doll. She was bought by Dellah Wotton at Harrods in London, England for A. Margaret Barker Johnston. The Aunt also purchased a doll for each of Margaret's sisters. The other two dolls were eventually destroyed. Margaret's two older sister, Blanche and Ila, operated on Maude - they badly damaged her body. Margaret was broken hearted and kept Maude wrapped in an old dotted swiss curtain in a box. She gave it to Kathy Johnston. Ray and Kay Johnston had her
repaired in St. Petersburg, Fl - the man did a very poor job. They later had her redone and dressed by Mr. & Mrs. Smith in Sarasota, Fl. It was then given to Kathy Johnston Long on October 15, 1988.
The blue enamel doll dishes in the photo also belonged to Margaret. The doll in the purple dress was given to Kathy Johnston Long by Marion Ball Wilson Poe. Mrs. Poe was a well known doll collector and a childhood friend of Louise Koelkebeck.
