This magnificent 19th-century Victorian Eastlake period bed is an exceptional example of heirloom craftsmanship, masterfully constructed from rich walnut wood and accented with highly figured walnut burl veneer panels. The commanding headboard features an architectural pediment crown adorned with classic Eastlake details, including deep incised spoon carvings, geometric floral accents, crisp dentil molding, and a beautifully scrolled central relief decoration. Both the towering headboard and the lower, matching footboard showcase expansive arched panels of book-matched burl walnut that showcase a striking, turbulent natural grain pattern. The footboard is capped with robust, step-profile corner posts and a horizontal band of intricate latticework piercing, while the original deep side rails frame out a stately structure that embodies late Victorian opulence.
