History
The bustle bench is an Eastlake design that was popular during the Victorian era, circa 1870-1880. Bustle benches were created for ladies hoop skirts, bustles and large petticoats.
Origin
Brought to America by Caleostein Schwin when he immigrated in the 1800s. Celeostein was one of the owners of Schantz & Schwind Brewing Company that operated in Dayton, Ohio from 1904-1919. The furniture was passed down through the generations to our client whom was the great granddaughter or Mr. Schwin.
