S. Karpen & Bros (1880-1951)

The 9 Karpen brother immigrated to America from Prussia in 1872. By 1880 the eldest son Solomon had enough money to open a furniture workshop. From there the Chicago based business quickly expanded as each brother joined suit. Specializing in upholstered furniture with iconic European styles. By the 20's the brand had become a household name with showrooms in New York and Los Angeles.

Featured is a two piece parlor set. Made from Mahogany with American Empire styling. Includes a harpe shape with high flared arms, carved back, and paw feet. Upholstered in a traditional French fabric with reds, blues, greens and gold accents. Includes two bolster pillows and one round side pillow. Metal plate label along the back base.

Condition

Good antique condition, some light wear to the coording, some stains to back bottom of wood frame on settee, round pillow not fully upholstered on back side, general wear from use and age, see pictures.
