Description
Mid 19th century English Regency rent table. The rent table was an early filing system for land lords. It generally consisted of a drum table with several drawers that were used to keep and collect rent as well as hold papers pertaining to their estates. This beautiful example is made from mahogany with a tooled leather top. It features a rounded frieze of 8 drawers with brass knocker hardware showing an urn at the center. Four of the drawers are false, the others are hand dovetailed with solid oak construction. The top of the table revolves over a baluster turned support that leads to a shapely tripod base of square tapered legs ending in spade feet. This elegant furnishing is great for use as center table and would also work well as a game card or accent table. Marked on the underside of base "Made in England
