Description
Romweber (R-10975) Viking Oak Executive Desk circa 1980s. Features a large oak top with bowtie (butterfly joint) dovetailing and square carved edge. The top overhangs along the sides and front. The base of the desk has shapely Nordic inspired moldings and foliate carved details. There are seven dovetailed drawers, two of which are for file storage and pull out work surfaces. The central drawer includes a pencil or pen tray. Drawers open via twisted brass hardware

Romweber's roots go back to 1879 in Batesville, Indiana. One of the nations oldest case good furniture company. In the early 1930's, R. J. Romweber, grandson of the founder, took a trip to Norway and was inspired to create a line of furniture, based on Nordic design. The result was the Viking Oak Collection, which thrived from 1935 - 1987, making it the longest continuing, commercial furniture collection.
