Description

Mid century Frederic Remington bronze sculpture titled "The Bronco Buster," produced by Roman Bronze Works, New York. Depicts an American cowboy holding a twisting whip, seated on the back of a bucking bronco / horse. Mounted on an oval black marble base.

The Broncho Buster is Remington's first sculpture. They were first sand cast at the Henry Bonnard Bronze Company, and later after 1900, lost wax cast at Roman Bronze Works. Bronco Buster was copyrighted in 1895 and it is thought that the Roman Bronze Works Company cast 93 examples of the statue, and there are said to be about 300 "originals" in existence.
