Description
American Empire–period pedestal side table (circa 1820–1840) made from crotch mahogany. Features a rectangular top with rounded front corners and a molded apron, a single gently curving central column, and a stepped plinth-style base. The crotch mahogany displays rich, highly figured grain and a deep, glossy patina. The table swivels and opens into a larger format which was most often used for playing cards, other games or tea service. There is storage beneath the top for games, cards or other items.
