This authentic Baker Furniture campaign-style chest or nightstand (Model Number 1428 40) is a striking example of the mid 20th-century Asian-influenced Far East collection. Crafted from premium walnut with rich, highly figured burl wood veneers on the drawer fronts and cabinet doors, the chest features an inset banded top panel. The upper register houses three side-by-side storage drawers accented with classic, heavy brass campaign-style drop bail handles, while the far-right drawer includes a built-in lock mechanism. Directly below the drawers are two large cabinet doors adorned with decorative brass corner straps and circular tian-di (heaven and earth) style hinges along the outer edges, opening at the center via a prominent, circular brass medallion lock plate with drop pulls. True to historic military campaign design, the chest is framed with flush-mounted brass corner brackets and side straps to protect the wood edges, all resting on a sturdy, matching wood plinth base with bracket feet.
