Description

This is a beautiful set of four vintage continuous-bow farmhouse Windsor-style dining chairs, masterfully crafted from solid quarter-sawn oak. The chairs highlight an exceptional level of early 20th-century craftsmanship, featuring a broad, steam-bent curved back rail that seamlessly wraps into the rear frame. The central backrest features a wide, arched oak splint elegantly accented around the perimeter with polished brass upholstery tacks, framing a unique, pressed or embossed coat-of-arms crest centered at the top. Below the crest, four neatly turned vertical spindles offer comfortable lumbar support and lead down to a distinct, inset pierced and perforated padded seat. Secured by a border of brass studs, this insert features a decorative, circular multi-hole ventilation pattern that adds both textural contrast and vintage functional character to the seat.

Engineered with structural durability, featuring classic pinned-mortise construction where heavy wooden dowels and exposed structural slot-screws anchor the leg joints beneath the frame. The lower support system is comprised of robust, tapered spindle legs firmly braced by a double H-stretcher

Similar to the Caboose Chair which was first designed for the Union Pacific Railroad and was put into every caboose on the train. Specifically made to withstand abuse, this was one of the strongest chairs made. These chairs were made by highly skilled craftsmen with dedication and experience.
