Description
Pair of Framed Antique Vanity Fair Chromolithograph Prints. This exceptional pair of authentic, antique British caricature prints from the celebrated Vanity Fair magazine showcases high-end historical lithography. The first print, dated October 22, 1870, features "Men of the Day No. 12: Thomas Carlyle" by the famous caricaturist Carlo Pellegrini (signing as 'Ape'), depicting the renowned Scottish philosopher and essayist with his signature walking stick and wide-brimmed hat. The second print, dated 1905, features "Men of the Day No. 966: H.I.H. The German Crown Prince" (Crown Prince Wilhelm) by artist 'Spy' (Sir Leslie Ward), beautifully capturing the prince in his ornate Prussian military uniform and pickelhaube helmet. Both prints were masterfully struck by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd. Lith., and come professionally framed under glass in matching carved dark wood frames featuring an elegant beaded inner liner.
