Description

Antique silverplate champagne or wine cooler. Features classic trophy urn form with chased gadrooning throughout. Handled along each side with figural busts of Dionysis or Bacchus the god of grape harvest and wine making. Along the front is a shield. Within it is a dog facing left, holding a flower in its mouth, standing before a short tree. Beneath, on a ribbon, the motto: Amicos Semper Amat (He ever loves his friends). A version of the Culley family crest arising from Northumberland. The base of the piece is engraved with a 2. Along the bottom it is marked L7682
