Vintage 1970s-1990s abstract watercolor painting by Gordon R. Richardson featuring flowing blues over brown with splotches of peach/red on a column of torn paper. Pencil signed lower right corner. Part of Richardson’s series inspired by Cape Hatteras, this piece was once included in the Dayton Art Institute’s Circulating Gallery. Titled on label: “Hatteras [something] – Series (Bridges [?])”
Gordon R. Richardson graduated from the Dayton Art Institute school in 1964, spent 5 years teaching art in high schools, then took his master of fine arts in printmaking at Pratt Institute. He exhibited in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York City, and Paris. Some of his pieces have been part of the Dayton Art Institute’s Circulating Gallery. He was a member of the University of Dayton’s visual arts faculty from 1970 to his death in 1990, at the age of 49.
