Late 20th century tall taper candlestick holder handcrafted with a pair of Gemsbok horns, mounted on a raw edge disc of leadwood (a Southern African hardwood) and capped with a single candle cup of antiqued hammered brass. Marked by hand on base TC-G2-27-P. Polished finish

“The gemsbok or South African oryx is a large antelope in the genus Oryx. It is native to the extremely dry, arid regions of Southern Africa; notably, the Kalahari and Namib Desert. Some authorities formerly classified the East African oryx as a subspecies.”
