Mid century Bel-Air Bantam electric sewing machine and case. Black metal body with gold painted accents. Made in Japan. Serial number B509767A. Features Bell Electric Universal Motor, power cords, foot pedal, and box containing six assorted Singer brand presser feet. Case: bonded leather on wood with translucent bakelite handle. Crafted by Belvedere of California with non-locking Beehler St Louis latches on both ends.

“There never was a Bel Air sewing machine company. As near as can be found out, the Consolidated Sewing Machine Company commissioned their production and had them built in postwar Japan. Then they put their own badge on the machines and marketed them in the United States. The most interesting fact about Consolidated is that not only is it still in business today, but it was also founded in 1898 per their website. The Bel-Air Bantam is a clone of the Singer 99k10.
