Description

Late 20th century West African Akan tribal / folk art carved dark wood mask featuring an almond shaped face with open mouth, triangular nose, round disc shaped eyes and decorated with hammered / embossed sheets of silvery / copper metal. Leather strap for wall display on reverse.

The Akan people are a Kwa group living primarily in present-day Ghana and in parts of Ivory Coast and Togo in West Africa.

Condition

Good Overall - wear and distressing, some missing brass accents.
