Description

In Greco-Roman mythology, Aurora is the goddess of dawn and the sister of the sun and moon. She is often depicted in art as a beautiful woman with wings, riding a chariot across the sky to announce the start of a new day. The original L'Aurora was painted in 1614 by Guido Reni for the casino, or garden house that was adjacent to the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi, in Rome. The original Fresco is 9 feet tall and 23 feet wide. This example dates to the late 20th century and is unsigned. The painting is framed in wood with a low-relief foliate design in gold.
