Description

This antique Victorian presentation walking cane is crafted from solid oak and showcases exceptional historical character and craftsmanship. The cane features a slender, tapered oak shaft that displays a beautiful, warm honey-amber tone near the top, which gradually deepens into a rich, dark brown towards the base. The lower section of the shaft exhibits a prominent, honest vintage patina with natural surface scuffing tapering down to a bare, rounded wooden tip.

The cane is crowned with an ornate, hollow-cast sterling silver knob handle decorated with dramatic, spiraling diagonal fluting, repoussé scrollwork, and a textured, chased background darkened by a rich layer of natural oxidation. The handle serves as a custom presentation piece, featuring a flat top surface hand-engraved with the cursive initials "W.C.G. to H.D." framed by delicate leaf motifs. The side of the knob highlights a polished, teardrop-shaped cartouche beautifully inscribed with "Paris 1887" over a small leafy flourish.
