Description

This antique Eastlake movement pier mirror features a stately, architectural solid walnut frame highlighted by a carved top pediment with a row of repeating scalloped arches. Below the crown, a step-molded straight header sits over a rectangular mirror plate framed by a gently curved, arched wooden inner top rail. The side pilasters are adorned with characteristic Eastlake details, including incised geometric line carvings, linear channel grooves, and decorative "X" patterns near the bottom corners, highlighting the natural grain of the walnut wood. The top outer corners are further accented with decorative wooden blocks supported by small, stylized brackets, completing the geometric and symmetrical aesthetic typical of late 19th-century Victorian design. The reverse side reveals an authentic, heavily oxidized antique construction consisting of a large lower wood panel and a series of horizontal backing slats secured into the frame channel, a standard period assembly practice that retains a vintage wire hanging cable strung between two side mounting eyelets .
