This antique rocking chair is a beautiful, hybrid-construction piece, expertly crafted from solid oak and hard maple. It features a striking slat-and-spindle backrest, showcasing a gently curved top rail, two broad horizontal slats, and a lower row of six contoured spindles that taper toward the seat. The chair is flanked by elegant, sweeping scroll-front armrests supported by turned posts. Its thick, solid saddle seat is deeply contoured for ergonomic comfort and shows a rich, naturally aged grain pattern with minor historic wear. The lower framework features robust, turned legs reinforced by box-stretcher supports, all securely mortised into two long, smoothly curved oak rocking runners.
