Antique Early American Federal or Hitchcock-style captain's armchair dating back to the 19th century. Crafted from a dark-stained mahogany, the chair is defined by its distinct hand-woven rush fiber seat which forms a neat, multi-directional pattern across the square frame. The structure features straight, horizontal back splats, gently curved open armrests ending in rounded scrolls, and intricate ring-turned embellishments along the front arm supports, legs, and H-shaped stretchers. Designed with both function and historic charm in mind, the underside shows traditional dowel and rung construction, while the legs are outfitted with modern white glide caps to protect flooring.
