With long introductory text by Louis Aragon subtitled: "Matisse-en-France." 39, [1] pp. Illustrated with linocut frontispiece and 158 plates Although the limitation is 950 copies on Velin pur fil,the work comprises 17 themes, or pictorial motifs, eg. a vase with flowers, a woman smoking a cigarette, lettered A through P (including N bis). Each thematic section includes a number of variations on the same subject, the largest containing nineteen different images. Each of the drawings reproduced full-page on thick paper.
