Circa early 20th century, Qing dynasty Jiang Jun Chinese chinoiserie watercolor scroll painting on silk showing branching stems of pink and white peonies and peach blossoms. Calligraphy in upper right. Three red stamps / seals. Wood frame.
The artist's name is 姜� (Jiang Yun / Jun) 1847- 1919.
Jiang Yun, who used the courtesy name Yinsheng, sobriquet Daxiong shanmin, was born in Anhui provenance. He earned a juren degree in 1891. His painting style is considered in the lineage of the Orthodox school, closely following the early Qing master Wang Hui (1632-1717). The artist once taught Xiao Xun (1883-1944), who was one of the founding members of the Chinese Painting Research Association.
