Large rare vintage Royal Doulton 7118 porcelain character jug of Sir Edward Elgar featuring an architectural scroll / pillar with Union Jack flags and Land of Hope and Glory text. Modelled by Stanley James Taylor. Great Composers Series. Circa 1998. Umbrella backstamp.

Edward Elgar (1857 – 1934) is especially remembered for his Pomp and Circumstance marches, especially Land of Hope and Glory, which is traditionally part of the fitting climax to the Promenade Concerts Last Night of the Proms.
